Mr Burger Sells Burgers - Food & Drink - Broadsheet Melbourne

O

wners of The Mercat, Daragh Kan and Myles Munro have opened their latest venture, Mr Burger. With the simple mantra of ?Mr Burger sells burgers. From a food truck in Melbourne?, the brand is quickly cementing its own spot on the food truck block.

?The idea was to have a name that conveyed our simple and quality food offering ? Mr Burger seemed like a bit of a no brainer,? explains Kan.

After attending the South by Southwest festival in Texas earlier this year, the boys were amazed with the number of food trucks on offer. It inspired them to open up their own truck in Melbourne ? one that serves suburbs other than just those, north of the river. ?We reckon there are some great food trucks out there but they are, for the most part, basing themselves in the northern suburbs. We're looking to open the food truck experience up to greater Melbourne,? Kan says.

A converted warehouse opposite the Queen Victoria Market Deli houses their first truck and acts as a semi-permanent burger-eating location. Complete with undercover tables, stools and relaxed tunes, Mr Burger offers a slightly different food truck dining experience. On other nights the truck can be found at various locales ?check their Facebook or Twitter for the truck?s exact location and trading hours.

You can take your pick from two burgers ? the classic ?Mr Burger? or the jam-packed ?Mr Meat?, which comes with the added goodness of bacon, caramelized onions and BBQ sauce.

?We've worked with our chef and a local family butcher to develop the patty and we source all our other ingredients from local suppliers? says Kan, so you can be sure your burger is not only tasty but also fresh. Vegetarians won?t miss out with a sans meat burger making its way onto the menu soon. If you're still wanting more, golden chips serve as an excellent side. And with prices starting from just $9, it?s fair to say that their simple, fuss-free approach is a winner, with daily sell-outs becoming the norm.

As for what?s next, the boys are hesitant to get ahead of themselves. ?Right now we're just focused on delivering great burgers to the people of Melbourne. Everyone's loved the burgers so far, but we're not going to get complacent.?

And with plans to launch another truck at the end of November and cater for functions and events, Mr Burger?s future certainly looks bright.
